Since 2009, the Dallas Cowboys have called AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas their home. For over a decade, the team’s headquarters and training base have been at The Star in Frisco, around 36 miles from the stadium. Second-year Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer resides in McKinney, Texas, a 30-minute drive from the team facility. To shorten his commute, Schottenheimer has decided to sell his McKinney home and move closer to the team facility.

The listing agent for Schottenheimer’s current home highlighted that the desire to be closer to work was a significant factor in his decision. “Time is crucial at this level,” explained Carrie Himel of the Compass Sports & Entertainment division to The Dallas Morning News.

The 5,700-square-foot home hit the market at $3.8 million as of mid-April, according to Zillow. The Collin County Appraisal District valued the property at close to $2 million for tax assessment. Himel noted that the property attracted a buyer swiftly.

“It’s a private, serene oasis,” Himel mentioned. “Every window and space in the house offers views of nature. It’s a unique property that found a buyer quickly.” McKinney is roughly 17 miles from The Star. Schottenheimer’s plans for his next home purchase are yet to be disclosed.

The residence, built-in 2021, features four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a movie room, and an infinity-edge pool. Its garage can house three cars. Schottenheimer, who was promoted to head coach in January 2025 after Mike McCarthy’s departure, noted occasions the family engaged with local wildlife in the natural setting of their home.

In late October, Schottenheimer recounted an incident where an owl entered the house through an open sliding door during a game-planning session for a match against the Arizona Cardinals. Animal control was eventually called to handle the situation. Under Schottenheimer, the Cowboys ended their season with a 7-9-1 record, not advancing to the playoffs.
