The Baltimore Ravens made headlines in the NFL offseason by initially agreeing to trade two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for star edge-rusher Maxx Crosby. However, the Ravens later reneged on the deal, citing Crosby’s failure to pass a physical examination.
Seeking to address their defensive needs, Baltimore then signed Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson to a substantial four-year deal worth $112 million. This decision appeared to be a strategic move to mitigate potential negative fallout from the reversed trade.
The proposed trade involving Crosby was prompted by his earlier request to be moved. Despite speculation about lingering tension between Crosby and the Raiders after the trade reversal, NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported that Crosby remains focused on his recovery and training independently from the team’s offseason practices.
Crosby is dedicated to his recovery efforts and continues to make progress, according to La Canfora. While not attending Las Vegas’s team sessions, he’s committed to returning strong after being sidelined by the failed trade with the Ravens.
League sources reveal that Crosby is motivated to have an impressive season, even amid the public scrutiny following the trade’s collapse. His goal is to be fully ready for football activities, although he missed Organized Team Activities in early May.
Amid Crosby’s wish to explore new opportunities, speculation about another potential trade circulated. Yet, the prevailing sentiment is that Crosby will remain with the Raiders, fulfilling his four-year, $116 million contract, which includes a possible out after 2027.
An NFL General Manager commented to La Canfora, “He’s set to start the season in Vegas and will likely perform at a high level. Although trade inquiries might arise, the consensus is Crosby remains with the team.”
