Former NFL star Dez Bryant has voiced his opinion on the controversy surrounding New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart’s introduction of President Donald Trump. This move drew criticism from teammate Abdul Carter, who publicly expressed disapproval. Bryant, who gained fame as a wide receiver with the Dallas Cowboys, shared his thoughts on social media.
“I don’t understand the hate Jaxon Dart received for introducing President Trump. Whether you support Trump or not, you’re in a lose-lose situation,” Bryant commented. “Politics and religion pose challenges in sports. People have the right to their beliefs.”
I don’t know..I just live by a code..As long as it’s not interfering with my s—..do whatever you want because you’ve got to take whatever you’re on up with God. I’m too much of a sinner to be judgmental and political.
Dart, Carter, head coach John Harbaugh, and backup quarterback Jameis Winston all addressed the situation, showing unity by embracing at a recent press conference. The team aimed to demonstrate there was no ill will in the locker room, though both Dart and Carter maintained their positions.
“Some matters transcend football, and this is one of those,” Carter said. “Jaxson is a leader, representing us all. If he aligns with someone like President Trump, I need to show my opposition, based on my beliefs.”
Dart explained he felt honored to introduce the President, given his family’s history of military service. He added, “I’ve always respected the Presidential role, regardless of political party. My intentions were purely to honor that position.”
Carter stressed that despite their differing views, he and Dart remain close. “We don’t have issues with each other. We talk daily during team meetings,” Carter mentioned. “I don’t want him to apologize. Stand by your beliefs.”
According to Dart, he values his friendship with Carter, noting, “We joined the team together, faced adversity, and supported each other. He’s my brother.”
Winston, serving as a seasoned voice in the locker room, praised both players for their open communication. “I’m proud of how our team is handling this,” he said.
Head coach Harbaugh shared Winston’s sentiment, emphasizing team growth through this experience. “We’re in a good place now, progressing forward,” Harbaugh stated.
