Donald Trump Declared in ‘Excellent Health’ by Physician

Donald Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, declared the president in “excellent health” and “fully fit” to serve after a medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The visit included a CT scan, heart imaging, cancer screenings, and other assessments by 22 specialists.

After a three-hour examination, Trump, aged 79, announced that his health was “PERFECTLY” fine. He weighed in at 238 pounds (108 kilograms), which is an increase of 14 pounds (6 kilograms) since his last exam in April 2025. Although his doctors advised on diet, exercise, and weight loss, they confirmed his “cognitive and physical performance are excellent.” With a height of 6 feet, 3 inches (1.9 meters), Trump has a body mass index of 29.7, just below the threshold for obesity.

The report noted bruising on Trump’s hands, attributed to “minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking,” a common effect of aspirin therapy. A recommendation was made to switch to low-dose aspirin. The report further indicated slight lower leg swelling, an improvement from last year when Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency—a condition common in older adults.

The president underwent the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, scoring 30 out of 30, consistent with previous years. Trump’s cholesterol levels have improved, with his total cholesterol at 143, down from 223 in 2018, thanks to medications like rosuvastatin and ezetimibe.

This examination marked Trump’s fourth publicly disclosed medical check since his re-election. It aligns with his efforts to display strength before the midterm elections. While there is no legal obligation for presidents to disclose full health records, Trump, like previous leaders, has released selective physical results, drawing scrutiny for limited details.

Trump often addresses concerns about his age and stamina, turning 80 next month. His predecessor, Joe Biden, ended his presidency at 82, exiting the 2024 race due to age concerns. Despite this, Trump frequently discusses his health and jokes about his fondness for fast food and limited exercise beyond golfing, stating he feels as vigorous as he did 50 years ago.
