Patriots Face Close Call as Rhamondre Stevenson Endures Injury Scare at Celebrity Softball Game

The New England Patriots experienced a tense moment during a celebrity softball game on Sunday. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who scored a crucial touchdown in the Super Bowl with a pass from Drake Maye, was involved in an injury scare. The incident occurred when comedian Matt Rife accidentally made contact with Stevenson’s leg during a rundown, eliciting gasps from Patriots fans.

During the game, hosted by Maye, a video captured by Boston reporter Marlee Wierda documented the unsettling moment. Rife appeared to lose his balance while running to second base, causing Stevenson’s left leg to bend awkwardly. Fortunately, Stevenson managed to stand up and smile afterward, though the incident conveyed a sense of alarm.

Following the game, Rife humorously noted on Instagram that “half the Patriots beat the s–t out of me” due to the incident. He likened his competitive spirit to that of Pete Rose in an MLB All-Star Game during the 1970s. Despite the mishap, Rife impressed with his performance, starting with a triple and a ground-rule double.

Known for his energetic style, Rife did not acknowledge any wrongdoing, comparing himself to Rose taking out Ray Fosse in 1970. On Instagram, he faced critiques from Patriots fans, but he maintained his stance, saying, “Crowded baseline, had to do it.” The competitive nature of the event left Rife unapologetic for his efforts to win.

Interestingly, Rife’s team emerged victorious in the game, drawing parallels to Rose’s National League team in 1970. Rife did not miss the chance to share news of the win across social media platforms.
