U.F.O. Researcher’s Death Sparks Reflections on Loss and Belief

Elizabeth Weiss, an anthropologist, reflects on the death of her husband, Nick Pope, a well-known U.F.O. researcher who passed away in April. She notes the human tendency to see patterns, quoting her husband who often said, “If you start looking for patterns, you will find them.”

David Wilcock’s life journey took a dramatic turn due to an early fascination with the supernatural. As a child, he found an old book on U.F.O.s in his basement, sparking his lifelong interest in the subject. His father, Donald, recalls that the book was not intended for children, yet David absorbed the material fully.

Wilcock, known for co-authoring a book in 2004 in which he claimed he was the reincarnation of the well-known psychic Edgar Cayce, featured regularly on the popular show “Ancient Aliens.” His YouTube channel, Divine Cosmos, focused on paranormal themes and amassed 550,000 subscribers.

Despite his public persona, Wilcock faced financial difficulties and was predisposed to depression. In 2021, his four-year marriage ended, adding to his struggles. His father, Donald, was aware of David’s challenges but was unprepared for the tragic events of April this year.

On April 20, deputies were dispatched to Wilcock’s residence in Nederland, Colorado, located in the Rocky Mountain foothills. Upon arrival, David emerged holding a firearm and, within minutes, took his own life. Reflecting on the loss, Donald expressed his deep sorrow: “No father should ever have to go through what I’m going through.”
