President Trump’s Frustration with Netanyahu and Hopes for Meeting Iran’s Leader

President Trump revealed insights into his private discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday. While the two leaders generally maintain a positive relationship, Trump expressed dissatisfaction, calling Netanyahu “crazy” over certain disagreements. Despite acknowledging the close and constructive rapport, the president confirmed using harsh language during a phone call regarding Israel’s military actions in Lebanon.

In reference to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia, Trump stated he felt “perturbed” by Israel’s persistent confrontations with Lebanon. The disagreement highlighted tensions, as Trump’s administration excluded Israel from negotiations to end the war. The president publicly urged an end to the fighting.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, in an interview with CNBC, described these issues as “tactical disagreements” but stressed the ability to resolve them. Netanyahu refrained from revealing specific details regarding the disputes.

Alongside these talks regarding Israel, President Trump expressed interest in meeting Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. Despite expressing a willingness to meet the leader, Iranian authorities did not comment, leaving the prospect unclear. Reports suggest Khamenei may have sustained injuries during initial U.S.-Israeli attacks, but his current condition remains uncertain, according to the president.

Regarding broader war negotiations, Trump suggested no urgency in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, crucial for oil and gas shipping. When asked whether the blockade would persist by Labor Day, Trump expressed uncertainty.
