Jill Biden Defends Memoir Amid Criticism from Democrats

Jill Biden, former first lady, has addressed criticism from Democrats regarding her memoir. Critics argue that the book unnecessarily brings up controversies from the 2024 election. During a book promotion event in New York, Biden responded to such criticisms. The event took place on Wednesday, where she was questioned about Andrew Bates’ comments. Bates, a former Biden White House spokesman, expressed concerns about reopening past party issues.

Addressing Bates, Biden said, “I want to say to Andrew: Call me up, and say it to my face, buddy.” She noted that her book contains only “one chapter on politics.” Biden also touched upon broader discussions about the 2024 election. She mentioned former President Joe Biden’s debate performance and shared her views on his decision to seek re-election.

Throughout interviews promoting her book “View from the East Wing,” released recently, she has discussed these topics. In one interview, she spoke about not witnessing her husband’s debate preparations. “I was out campaigning,” she said, explaining her absence from Camp David during that time.

Biden further reflected on realizing Joe Biden’s aging. “I saw Joe aging. My God, we all saw him aging,” she admitted. Her comments coincide with her appearance on “The View.” She acknowledged that Joe Biden might not have been fit for another presidential term.

“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin asked her about her husband’s capability to continue as president. “Well, not from what I know now,” Jill Biden replied candidly. She explained the shock of his cancer diagnosis, which altered their life plans.
