A swimmer trying to dodge police in New York City found himself in handcuffs on Monday. Authorities reported his arrest following a daring swim in Central Park.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) was attempting to arrest the individual in Harlem on charges of petty larceny, according to information shared with Fox News Digital. In an effort to escape custody, the 23-year-old suspect made his way into Central Park and plunged into the Harlem Meer, an 11-acre lake located at the park’s northeast corner.
The lake, known as the Harlem Meer, extends over 11 acres and offers scenic views in Central Park’s northeast area.
Police efforts included a helicopter from the NYPD hovering above, capturing video as the suspect attempted to swim to safety across the lake.
