President Donald Trump signed legislation on Wednesday to bolster child exploitation investigations by funding 200 additional investigators. This legislation, introduced by Senator Josh Hawley and supported by Tim Tebow, significantly expands federal resources beyond the existing seven forensic analysts handling such cases nationwide.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Hawley expressed gratitude to the President for prioritizing this critical issue, stating, “This is the largest federal action against child trafficking to date.” The initiative emphasizes the urgency of rescuing children from online exploitation.
Part of a $70 billion reconciliation package, the measure earmarks $108.5 million specifically for child trafficking and exploitation enforcement. This funding is positioned as the largest federal commitment ever to combating child trafficking, as affirmed by Hawley’s office.
The measure was motivated by testimony from former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, who highlighted the alarming number of IP addresses involved in child exploitation activities. Tebow shared these insights during a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on Crime and Counterterrorism.
The funding will enable Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to recruit 40 new forensic analysts and 30 new child exploitation investigators at the Child Exploitation Investigations Unit. Additionally, it supports the hiring of 130 more forensic analysts and investigators. A specialized training program will be established to enhance collaboration across federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
The White House directed inquiries to Trump’s comments made in the Oval Office during the signing of the Secure America Act. Trump noted, “The bill provides crucial funding to domestic law enforcement investigations, combating child exploitation, continuing our work to restore law and order across our nation and to protect America’s youth.”
