Swift Attendence at NBA Finals Draws Mixed Reactions

Pop singer Taylor Swift drew significant attention during her appearance at Madison Square Garden for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. While the crowd at the venue largely responded with cheer, ESPN personality Monica McNutt had a different take.

During the game featuring the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, Swift was among celebrities like Timothee Chalamet, Larry David, and Ben Stiller in attendance. The jumbotron showed Swift, prompting McNutt to express doubt about her genuine Knicks fandom. McNutt, an ESPN analyst and Knicks radio analyst, remarked, “Is that Taylor Swift? She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl.” This clash in opinion stood out compared to the applause she received from the audience.

In contrast to McNutt’s skepticism, play-by-play announcer Tyler Murray captured the moment by photographing Swift from courtside, illustrating a more welcoming sentiment.

Swift has been spotted at Knicks games since 2014, including posing with past Knicks stars such as Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire. On the recent game night, she sported a “Stevie Knicks” shirt alongside Este and Alana Haim, showing her playful side.

The game itself saw the Knicks embark on an impressive comeback after trailing 76-49 at halftime. Despite the Spurs controlling the first half, New York made history by overcoming a 29-point deficit, ultimately securing a 107-106 win, marking the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.

The unexpected turn of events capped off an evening filled with celebrity appearances and mixed reception for Swift’s attendance.
