Peter Thiel, a prominent investor known for his role in companies like PayPal and Palantir, highlighted inequality in his 2014 book Zero to One. He described a world where only a few achieve outsized success. He referred to this dynamic as the ‘law of the universe’.
Elon Musk, another influential tech figure, added to the conversation. In a 2025 post on X, he suggested that humans might serve as precursors to advanced digital intelligence. His words implied that human existence is primarily for generating wealth.
Another influential individual, Carlos Carvalho, serves as president of the University of Austin. He supported inequality in an address titled “In Defense of Inequality.” His audience included Thiel and other tech leaders.
