Trump’s Dress Code Expectations for Cabinet Members Unveiled by Vice President JD Vance

Vice President JD Vance recently shared insights into President Donald Trump’s stringent dress codes for Cabinet members. Speaking on the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast, Vance discussed how Trump’s style preferences, such as avoiding brown shoes, are grounded in respecting the institutions served by public officials.

“The president believes in respecting the institution and the office by dressing appropriately,” Vance revealed. “This approach is quite traditional.”

During the podcast episode, Vance highlighted Trump’s insistence on projecting professionalism. The president typically wears a navy suit, black shoes, and a solid tie. Vance pointed out that Trump occasionally criticizes Cabinet members for wearing brown shoes.

Earlier in the year, Trump mentioned on “The Brian Kilmeade Show” that he sometimes buys new shoes for his officials. “If they have a problem, I offer to get them a pair,” Trump stated.

Vance recounted instances when Trump remarked on others’ attire, including his family. During an Oval Office meeting, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy was questioned about his choice of not wearing a suit.

In a subsequent White House meeting, Zelenskyy wore a suit, and a reporter complimented him, saying he looked “fabulous.” Trump echoed this sentiment. “Not a good moment for him,” Vance commented on the tense exchange. He added that the relationship was eventually mended.

Vance also remembered Trump’s remarks about Don Jr.’s attire at a 9/11 memorial event in 2024. Amid the commemoration, Trump commented on Don Jr.’s wide collar. Vance noted this was clearly a jab, reinforcing his adherence to Trump’s dress code of a navy suit, black shoes, and conventional collar.
