Wind Gust Causes Cabana Collapse at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

A gust of wind sent a metal cabana frame crashing into a pool area at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, injuring five people. The incident happened at the DAER Club, a rooftop venue in Hollywood, Florida.

Strong winds caused the outdoor structure to collapse partially. Five individuals were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Videos online display guests and staff assisting those trapped beneath the metal frame before emergency services arrived. The cabana frame, lifted by winds, fell towards an area near the pool deck occupied by guests.

A witness who captured the aftermath on video stated that he narrowly avoided the structure by moving away moments before the collapse. He described his shock at the close call in a social media post.

In another weather-related incident, a New Jersey lifeguard was harmed by a flying beach umbrella. Occurring at Asbury Park’s 3rd Avenue Beach, the umbrella stake pierced the lifeguard’s shoulder. Fire officials reported she stayed awake and was treated at a hospital.

These incidents highlight the importance of securing outdoor equipment during windy weather, especially in open-air areas like beaches.
