A day that began with a round of golf ended in chaos for country singer Bailey Zimmerman. The dramatic events unfolded at Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico, leading to criminal charges.
From Golf to Trouble
Zimmerman’s day started on May 27 at the Sandia Resort, where he played golf. By 3 p.m., he and his entourage returned to the hotel in a white SUV. Police claimed Zimmerman exited the vehicle with others, sharing a cigarette in a group. According to an affidavit, Zimmerman burned band members with the cigarette, though they reportedly laughed it off.
Soundcheck Chaos
The situation escalated at the amphitheater during soundcheck. Zimmerman, appearing under the influence, seemed angry with his band and manager, according to security. Surveillance footage revealed Zimmerman throwing microphones and instruments, stumbling, and ignoring attempts to calm down. Police documented Zimmerman shoving a guitarist and kicking over drum equipment.
Leaving the Venue
After 44 minutes, Zimmerman left soundcheck. He complained about the white SUV instead of a black one but eventually got inside. Returning to the hotel added more drama. Zimmerman stumbled, lost a shoe, and needed help from his entourage to reach his suite. Visible blood was noted on his knee.
Concert Cancellation
Zimmerman canceled his concert, citing illness. He informed fans through Instagram that he had to reschedule shows as he was not feeling well enough to perform. Zimmerman emphasized his commitment to providing a good show and expressed regrets for letting fans down.
Hotel Damage and Arrest
On May 28, hotel staff reported over $16,000 in property damage and unpaid alcohol charges. Damages included a broken television, phone, and furniture. As a result, Zimmerman faced charges, including felony criminal damage and misdemeanor charges. An arrest warrant followed with a “no bond hold,” pending judicial review.
Zimmerman’s Apology
Zimmerman issued an apology via his attorney. He expressed deep regret for his actions, apologized to the Pueblo of Sandia, the resort, and his fans. Zimmerman acknowledged his responsibility as a musician and vowed to learn from the incident, respecting the community’s hospitality and reflecting on the impact of his behavior.
