The Expectations Surrounding Arch Manning and The Texas Longhorns

Arch Manning made a significant impact in high school football. His well-known surname added to the expectations as he joined the Texas Longhorns program. As college football analysts discuss what Manning might contribute to the Longhorns possibly in his final college year, his grandfather expressed concern over the hype surrounding the quarterback.

“I was kind of disappointed in a lot of, just a lot of people,” Archie Manning told KXAN-TV about the pre-college expectations. “They kind of crowned Arch before he ever played. And I just didn’t think that was fair.”

Despite a challenging start against a strong team, Archie Manning praised his grandson’s resilience and performance in the last eight or nine games of the season.

The buzz around Arch Manning is likely to increase as the college football season approaches. He is expected to lead the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff and distinguish himself among NFL Draft prospects. In 2025, Manning achieved 3,163 passing yards and 26 touchdown passes.

The Longhorns will begin their 2026 season against Texas State on September 5. While this game might be relatively easy, the real challenge comes on September 12 when they face Ohio State at home.
