Atlantic City, New Jersey, has seen better days. Once the glistening casino resort capital of the East Coast, its reputation has dimmed. The city still boasts impressive hotels and casinos, and its beaches remain free—a rare feature in New Jersey. Yet, issues like crime and corruption have altered how people perceive it over time.
WWE Stars’ Experiences in Atlantic City
Recently, WWE star Grayson Waller shared his thoughts on Atlantic City. After performing at the iconic Boardwalk Hall for “Monday Night Raw” and a taping of “Friday Night SmackDown,” he took to social media. He posted a video of himself running on the beach, calling it the “saddest city in America.” Waller described his experience, comparing the town unfavorably to Las Vegas. He referred to it as a place for those who have “given up on life.” He expressed his determination to rise early and train while others slept, not wanting to vacation there himself.
In contrast, fellow WWE wrestler Matt Cardona shared more positive memories. Cardona performed at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City for Game Changer Wrestling. The hotel’s ballroom became an impromptu wrestling venue for remarkable matches. Cardona appreciated his experiences there, noting on X that although he was born on Long Island, his professional wrestling persona was born in Atlantic City.
These differing views highlight the complex relationship some have with Atlantic City. While its charm has faded for some, others still find inspiration and opportunity within the city’s limits.
