U.S. Navy Rescues Three Crew Members After Helicopter Lands in Arabian Sea

Three members of a MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter crew have been rescued in the Arabian Sea following an emergency landing, according to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command. The search for the fourth crew member is ongoing.

The military reported no signs of the helicopter being shot down. It is part of the USS George H.W. Bush fleet.

“Three of the helicopter’s four crew members have been recovered and are in stable condition aboard the George H. W. Bush,” stated U.S. Naval Forces Central Command. “U.S. Navy assets in the region are currently searching for the other aircrewman still missing.”

The incident took place at 3:30 a.m. Eastern time, equivalent to 11 a.m. local time.

The USS George H.W. Bush has operated in the Middle East since late April and remains one of two aircraft carriers in the area. Despite lifting the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. keeps a significant military force there.

As of mid-May, the U.S. had lost 42 aircraft under Operation Epic Fury, excluding a U.S. Apache helicopter shot down in June by an Iranian drone. The crew from the Apache helicopter was successfully rescued, leading to U.S. self-defense actions against Iran.
