Ali Larter, star of “Landman,” enjoys a simpler summer life in Idaho compared to her past in Los Angeles. At the Newport Beach TV Fest, she shared with Fox News Digital how her summer experiences have changed since moving to Sun Valley in 2020.
Larter noted, “Well, it’s totally different, so we can’t really get our kids to hike anymore, they don’t want to do that. But I can get them to take a bike ride and then do like a little cold plunge in the river.” In Sun Valley, outdoor activities like biking and enjoying the river have become cherished family pastimes.
At home, barbecuing and spending time with their dogs are favorite activities. Larter mentioned, “My daughter will probably play some volleyball, we’ll go to Leroy’s and get an ice cream cone.” The charm lies in the extended daylight hours, with the sun out until about 10 p.m., allowing more time with family.
“It’s just kind of simpler and the days are really long.” — Ali Larter
Larter and her husband, Hayes MacArthur, have two children: their son, Teddy, 15, and daughter, Vivienne, 11. The family’s decision to stay in Idaho solidified during the COVID-19 lockdown. Initially hoping for schools to reopen in California, they enrolled their daughter in kindergarten in Idaho, where schools remained open. This experience introduced them to new families and allowed quality family time.
Explaining their return to Los Angeles later, Larter expressed, “There are so many demands as an actor” involving auditions and various events. While L.A. holds a special place in her heart, Larter and her family opted for a more family-focused lifestyle in Idaho.
At the Newport Beach TV Fest, where “Landman” received recognition, Larter discussed her character Angela Norris, Billy Bob Thornton’s ex-wife, describing her as a “wildcat.” Larter expressed her wish to channel Angela’s bold spirit more in her everyday life.
