Four individuals were injured by gunfire in East Los Angeles after crowds filled the streets post-Mexico-England World Cup soccer game on Sunday night.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported the shooting happened around 9:35 p.m. at Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue. A person involved in an argument decided to fire a weapon, wounding two men, a woman, and a minor.
The two men were targeted and taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The woman and the minor, a male, left the scene and reached deputies at a different location before being taken to the hospital. Their injuries were also non-life-threatening.
Details about the shooter remain scarce.
The incident unfolded as fans celebrated Mexico’s participation in the World Cup. Despite the team’s strong performance, they were eliminated Sunday night after a close 3-2 loss to England.
