Child Recovers After Stray Bullet Incident in Detroit

A young boy is on the mend after being struck by a stray bullet while riding his bicycle outside his home in Detroit. The boy, Kaizer, was shot Tuesday evening near Lindsay Street and Trojan Avenue, close to Fargo-Oakfield Park on the city’s west side.

His father recounted the frightening moment when Kaizer fell to the ground unexpectedly during the incident. Initially, Kaizer believed he was hit by a firework, exclaiming, ‘A firecracker hit me.’ The father then noticed blood on Kaizer’s arm and quickly tore off his shirt to comfort and dress the wound.

Kaizer was quickly taken to a nearby hospital. He received medical attention and was discharged by Wednesday afternoon, with doctors expecting a full recovery.

During a news conference on Tuesday night, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison revealed that a masked teenager is believed to have fired the shot. Kaizer was characterized as an innocent bystander in a random act of violence. Authorities apprehended the teenager on Wednesday, though details about the suspects and potential charges remain under wraps as the investigation advances.

Kaizer’s father expressed his disbelief at the incident, emphasizing the miraculous nature of his son’s survival. ‘I know God was watching over him,’ he stated. He also voiced his outrage that someone would bring a firearm to a park frequented by children.
