Zion Rose, once a standout athlete at Brother Rice, has forged his path to professional baseball despite challenges like injuries and a change in playing positions. Rose, who spent three seasons with the Crusaders, transferred to IMG Academy in Florida for his final high school year and later excelled at Louisville.
Rose’s aspirations for Major League Baseball came to life somewhat unexpectedly. During a press conference, he expressed his long-held dream and the joy of sharing the moment with his supporters. The Kansas City Royals selected Rose as the sixth overall pick in the first round of the MLB draft, surpassing many predictions that placed him towards the end of the first round.
Brother Rice coach Sean McBride couldn’t contain his excitement, acknowledging Rose’s potential early on. Despite some injury setbacks, Rose’s impressive performance included a .417 batting average, six home runs, and 24 stolen bases in 36 games at Louisville.
