Barinholtz added that despite the humor, he does wish McConnell access to the quality healthcare he opposed for others.
The Punchiest Punchlines (Stages of Grief Edition)
Reflecting on the news surrounding Senator Lindsey Graham, Jon Stewart wondered aloud how Graham could have passed before McConnell. Barinholtz noted the weekend’s events as an opportunity for controversial laughs, referring to Graham’s death and McConnell’s photo.
Stewart imitated President Trump, humorously imagining Trump’s response to Graham’s frequent calls and eulogies. Seth Meyers added that Trump’s tribute, claiming he wished he had talked to Graham less, was quite an unconventional remembrance.
Stewart joked that Trump had skipped the common stages of grief, instead jumping directly to dismissive resentment. Barinholtz humorously outlined alternative stages of grief, including denial and abruptly changing topics.
