Tragic Incident Involving Federal Immigration Authorities in St. Augustine

Federal immigration authorities reported a tragic accident in St. Augustine, Florida, involving a man fleeing officials. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when four individuals were stopped by federal agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in a gas station parking lot. The Department of Homeland Security provided this information to Fox News Digital.

All four occupants fled the scene on foot. One individual, a 28-year-old Mexican citizen, ran across a busy road and was struck by a tractor-trailer. Authorities confirmed the man died from his injuries at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) stated the pedestrian was in the right lane when hit.

The 64-year-old driver of the truck stopped immediately and attempted to aid the victim. The FHP is currently investigating the incident.

This unfortunate event marks the third such fatality involving individuals fleeing from ICE agents in approximately a week. In Texas, a man was shot and killed after allegedly attempting to ram federal agents with his vehicle. A separate incident in Maine involved a man being shot and killed inside a vehicle.

These events coincide with a policy shift announced by the Trump administration. ICE agents have been instructed to temporarily cease most vehicle stops nationwide.
