LeBron James appeared at Fanatic Fest in New York City for a live episode of ‘The Shop.’ During the event, he addressed the current state of his free agency journey.
While explaining his criteria for selecting a new team, James used a phrase that caught attention: ‘trust the process.’ This phrase is notably linked with the Philadelphia 76ers and their extensive rebuilding effort, initiated by former general manager Sam Hinkie in 2013. The Sixers are reportedly among the leading candidates to sign James.
‘I want to compete at a high level,’ James stated. ‘I aim to be with a franchise sharing my philosophy—practicing championship habits daily but, above all, trusting the process. You must trust the process…’
The crowd reacted, sensing a possible hint towards the 76ers. James quickly clarified, ‘I’ve been saying “trust the process” since I was drafted in 2003.’
76ers Potential for the Upcoming Season
The 76ers look strong for the 2026-27 season. After acquiring superstar guard Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics, they paired him with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe. This trade reshaped the league’s landscape.
Besides the 76ers, other contenders for James include the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
