Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday following additional charges by UK prosecutors. These charges involve further accusations of rape and sex trafficking.
Details of the Charges
The Crown Prosecution Service in Britain disclosed that these new charges relate to four additional victims. The charges were brought after receiving evidence from Bedfordshire Police located in southeastern England. The brothers are accused of rape, assault, trafficking, and offenses involving “indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.” With these new charges, the total number of alleged victims in the UK is now seven.
This situation is part of a complex international legal battle involving the United States, the United Kingdom, and Romania. Andrew and Tristan Tate have denied any wrongdoing.
Background on the Tate Brothers
Andrew Tate, aged 39, and Tristan Tate, aged 38, hold dual citizenship in the US and UK. They are known for their social media presence that promotes themes of wealth, male dominance, and misogyny. Andrew is a former professional kickboxer and has labeled himself a misogynist. He has gained over 10 million followers on X but has faced bans from platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram for breaches of hate speech policies. Andrew also runs an online academy where he claims to teach young men how to become wealthy and attract women. Tristan, similar to Andrew, is also a former kickboxer.
The brothers have been vocal supporters of former US President Donald Trump.
Legal Proceedings and Arrest
Both brothers have faced numerous charges in the UK and Romania, where they relocated in 2016. The new charges in the UK pertain to offenses allegedly occurring between 2010 and 2017. Andrew Tate faces seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault, and 19 charges concerning indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
Tristan Tate has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating sex trafficking. A statement from the Crown Prosecution Service mentioned that the extradition of the Tates from the US has been requested, and they have been arrested pending extradition proceedings to the UK.
Previously, the Tates were charged with rape, bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain in connection to three other alleged victims in the UK from 2012 to 2015. In June, a UK High Court judge rejected their legal plea to learn the identities of their accusers.
In Romania, the brothers were detained in late 2022 alongside two Romanian women, accused of running criminal schemes to lure women for sexual exploitation. They denied participation, and the Romanian case has stalled due to legal and procedural challenges. The case remains open, with another separate legal case in Romania against them.
Andrew Tate has consistently argued there is no evidence against them and that there is a political effort to silence him.
Why the Tates Were in the US
UK authorities had previously sought the Tates’ extradition after their Romanian legal proceedings concluded. They were allowed to leave Romania in February 2025 after travel restrictions were lifted, and the brothers traveled to Florida on a private jet. At that time, Romania’s foreign minister mentioned that a US official from the Trump administration showed interest in the Tates’ legal situation. However, Trump claimed he was unaware of the case and denied exerting pressure on the Romanian government to release the Tates.
