Tom Homan Criticizes Mamdani Over Sanctuary City Policies and ICE Stance

Tom Homan, the White House border czar, has strongly criticized New York City’s sanctuary policies and the recent actions of Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Homan believes that these policies pose a risk to citizens and obstruct the removal of criminal aliens, citing numerous arrests as evidence.

He voiced his concerns on ‘Fox & Friends Weekend,’ suggesting an imminent surge in ICE activity in New York City. Homan indicated that while current operations are ongoing, an increased effort is essential. However, he withheld specific details to avoid facilitating interference by well-funded opposition groups.

Mayor Mamdani has publicly expressed pride in New York City’s sanctuary status and a firm refusal to aid in federal immigration enforcement. In a recent New York Times interview, Mamdani argued that participation in civil immigration enforcement contradicts the city’s values and has expressed no intention to comply with federal deportations.

What we are unwilling to do is to participate in civil immigration enforcement with a federal government that has said openly it wants to deport a vast majority of people for crimes that we will never even know,

Homan responded, asserting the necessity for following the rule of law and stating that illegal entry should result in deportation as dictated by current U.S. law. He advised those who disagree to lobby Congress for legislative change.

Homan further discussed the Trump administration’s commitment to strengthening border security and enforcing immigration laws, which he believes contributed significantly to Trump’s election success. He asserted that the administration is determined to continue with its intended immigration strategy despite local opposition from sanctuary city policies.
