Joy Behar’s On-Air Kiss with Anson Mount Sparks Reaction

Joy Behar surprised her co-hosts and the audience of “The View” on Wednesday when she kissed actor Anson Mount during the show. As Mount approached the host table, Behar greeted him with a kiss on the lips, leaving co-host Sunny Hostin pointing in amusement while the others laughed.

Following the kiss, Behar remarked, “You know something? I’m old, but I’m not dead.” Mount responded by jokingly stating, “That’s good, Joy, because I am.” Behar reflected on their previous encounters, mentioning that Mount once brought her flowers on her birthday and teasing that her feelings changed after that visit.

During “The View’s” podcast, “Behind the Table,” Behar discussed the incident, admitting to joking about Mount’s name all morning. She felt compelled to kiss him when he appeared. When asked about her husband’s reaction, Behar shared that Steve Janowitz texted her saying, “Cut that out.”

Mount also spoke about his role in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” expressing gratitude and disbelief at his career in acting, particularly playing the captain’s role.

In another segment of “The View,” the co-hosts addressed current events, notably hearings involving the Smithsonian Institution on Capitol Hill. Sunny Hostin argued that Republican efforts against the Smithsonian were linked to the Trump administration’s stance on reparations for Black Americans.

Hostin stated, “I think this reflects a broad effort by the Trump administration to reshape the way the nation’s history is told, so this country does not have to pay Black people for the forced labor and the unpaid labor that built this country.” She emphasized the significance of truth and reconciliation commissions, pointing out the lack of one for slavery in the U.S. Hostin concluded by asserting the nation’s avoidance of recognizing and remedying historical injustices against African Americans.
