Cruise goers are discussing a viral video of a Carnival Cruise passenger using a restaurant fork to scratch her foot. Instagram user lucky_charmedcourt shared six videos documenting the incident, showing the woman with a possible skin condition scratching her foot. The Instagram user also tried to bring the issue to guest services and the captain’s attention.
In one video, captioned ‘foot fungus lady uses fork on cruise,’ the woman scratches her foot aggressively with the fork’s tines. Another clip shows her picking at her foot, which appears to have dry skin, on the boat’s deck.
The cruise blog ‘CruiseHive’ identified the ship as Carnival Sunrise, once known as Carnival Triumph. Fox News Digital contacted Carnival Cruise Line and lucky_charmedcourt for comment.
On July 22, Carnival Cruise Line issued a statement on social media about the incident: ‘We can confirm that forks are intended for food, not foot care. Once we became aware of the situation, our team quickly addressed it with the guest and removed the utensil from service.’ The statement emphasized the importance of hygiene, noting that their crew is committed to maintaining high standards for guests’ comfort and safety.
The videos have sparked debate on cruise ship hygiene, with over 150,000 comments on Instagram. Discussions have spread to Reddit where users expressed surprise and dismay over the incident occurring in a dining area.
