Caitlin Clark enjoyed a remarkable weekend filled with memorable events, kicking off by meeting former President Barack Obama. Her weekend wrapped up with a standout performance in her debut traditional All-Star Game.
Amidst her busy schedule, Clark took part in sponsor events with Nike, State Farm, and Wilson. These events attracted hundreds of eager fans, many sporting her No. 22 jersey, seeking autographs or even a high-five. At the Wilson event unveiling her new basketball line, Clark expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m excited this weekend is packed with a lot of stuff. I never want to take for granted (All-Star weekend).”
This marks Clark’s first traditional All-Star Game participation, as she missed last year’s due to an injury. In her 2024 rookie season, she participated in a competitive game where the U.S. Olympic team faced the WNBA All-Stars. This game carried extra significance as many believed she should have been selected for the Olympic team in Paris. “Any time you get to put on a uniform and play an All-Star Game is really special. It’s really a unique experience for myself as I never really got to play in a true All-Star Game (before),” Clark remarked.
During the game at the United Center, Clark quickly made an impact, scoring her team’s first eight points. She delighted the record crowd of 19,783 by executing a steal for a layup and sinking her well-known deep 3-pointers. Despite the absence of the 4-point spot from last year’s game, Clark enjoyed helping her team secure a 129-122 victory. She reflected on Obama’s advice to “don’t lose the joy,” admitting that meeting him left her hands sweaty and clammy. She requested a photo with him, a common request she herself receives frequently.
After their conversation, Clark engaged in sponsor activities at WNBA Live, a fanfest featuring league sponsor exhibits. She took part in a musical chairs shooting game at State Farm’s exhibit, where hundreds of fans watched. Acting as a hype figure, she cheered on girls competing in a similar contest, with the winner receiving a pair of her shoes. Clark also attended the Nike girls basketball tournament to support her former AAU team, the Iowa Attack, before heading to Wilson to reveal her basketball line.
Clark relished the chance to focus on basketball and disconnect from the external pressures surrounding her since joining the league in 2024. However, it’s back to regular duties as the Indiana Fever face Seattle on Tuesday.
