Nate Herring, a lead public affairs specialist with the U.S. Secret Service’s Communications and Media Relations office, confirmed this to Newsweek, saying, “The Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees.” He mentioned that the agency does not discuss protective intelligence matters due to operational security concerns.
The statement followed reports of a video circulated through an Iranian state-linked media channel targeting the first lady. This material is a recent instance of rhetoric aimed at President Donald Trump and his family amidst rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
Newsweek has reached out to the White House and the Office of the First Lady for comments. The publication does not reproduce the video or disclose its contents.
