Jared Leto Responds to Allegations of Sexual Misconduct

Jared Leto, the actor and musician, has responded to accusations of sexual misconduct from four women during their teenage years. Leto firmly denied these allegations on Wednesday, stating, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.” He made this public statement to The Associated Press.

The accusations are part of the BBC documentary titled “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,” which aired on Wednesday. The documentary presents claims from four women who allege misconduct and assault by Leto between 2002 and 2016 when they were teenagers and Leto was an adult. One woman claims she was 17 when sexually assaulted, while another accused Leto of statutory rape at the age of 17 as well. In addition, one woman reported being threatened with sexual assault at 19, and another mentioned sexually explicit communications and propositions from Leto when she was 16.

The BBC states it corroborated the accounts of these women; however, The Associated Press could not independently verify them. The documentary maintains the anonymity of the women, refraining from disclosing their full names. Despite the BBC reaching out for comments, Leto did not respond to their inquiries.

In the past, nine women similarly accused Leto of misconduct, as reported in a story by Air Mail last year. Leto’s representative denied those allegations then.

Leto, known for his Oscar-winning performance in “Dallas Buyers Club,” is also the lead vocalist of the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. His recent work includes portraying Skeletor in “Masters of the Universe.”
