NFL legend Rob Gronkowski recently commended Caitlin Clark for her performance, advising her to continue silencing critics with her gameplay. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Gronkowski highlighted Clark’s ability to handle public scrutiny.
“She’s doing a great job handling herself. I’m not in her shoes. I’m not in her situation. If I was, though, I would kind of handle it very similar to how she’s handling it. She really is doing a great job,” Gronkowski said.
He offered simple advice: keep performing well. “I would just say one piece of advice, keep balling because if you keep balling, you’re going to keep shutting up the haters.”
The Indiana Fever have been impressive, winning their last four games. Clark has averaged over 30 points per game during this streak. Key contributions also come from teammates Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.
Gronkowski acknowledged the importance of team support. “What I do appreciate, what she’s going to need to help with is her teammates. That’s who’s going to lift you up. If you’ve got your teammates protecting you, that says a lot right there. It really does. And she does. Her team does pick her up. They protect her as well, and that’s huge.”
“That says a lot about your personality and about who you are throughout the season, how you practice, how you prepare, is that if your teammates are behind you, you know that doing the right things.”
Gronkowski also sees Clark becoming the face of the WNBA once the league addresses her challenges on the court and she achieves significant wins.
“I think she’s going to be the face eventually, like truly where the WNBA steps in and they’re like, ‘OK, like enough of all this wishwashing that’s going on with her and the punishment that she’s taking out on the basketball court. Let’s truly make her to face the league. I think I would say it once she keeps balling out and also wins something pretty significant,” he shared.
Gronkowski, known for his tenure with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, explained that becoming the face of a league typically requires several years of consistent performance.
In his career, Gronkowski achieved 621 receptions, 9,286 yards, and 92 touchdowns, earning him a place among the greatest tight ends of all time.
Clark and the Fever aim to continue their successful run when they face the Portland Fire on Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
