Adam Copeland, a renowned figure in professional wrestling, is set to perform at Arena México for the first time. On Wednesday night, during All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Grand Slam: Mexico event, Copeland will participate in an eight-man tag team match. He teams up with Christian Cage, AEW’s tag team champions, and brothers Matt and Nick Jackson. Their opponents include Jon Moxley, Daniel Garcia, Pac, and Wheeler Yuta.
Expressing his excitement, Copeland shared his thoughts in an Instagram post. “Tonight I get to perform for the first time in The Wrestling Cathedral,” he wrote, referring to Arena México. He reminisced about his last match in Mexico in 2008 and expressed a deep appreciation for Lucha Libre, noting the allure of its masks, mystique, and pageantry. Copeland concluded by inviting fans to bring their energy.
Throughout his career, Copeland has kept a list of iconic venues where he aspired to perform. Arena México topped this list alongside other prominent locations like Wembley Stadium in London, Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, and Japan’s Tokyo Dome. With AEW’s upcoming premier pay-per-view event, All In, scheduled at Wembley Stadium, Copeland is set to fulfill another of his professional dreams.
Recently, Copeland and Cage secured the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Double or Nothing. They claimed victory against FTR in a grueling I Quit match, maintaining their champion status since then. As they prepare for future events, Copeland and Cage are expected to headline Wembley Stadium as champions, unless they face unanticipated challenges.
