Former President Joe Biden’s health has taken a severe turn as his prostate cancer has advanced and caused significant pain. Hunter Biden, his son, discussed the situation during a recent interview with the BBC. He explained, “The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further. It’s very painful and debilitating in many respects.”
Despite his struggles, Hunter noted that his father continues to participate in public speaking engagements. “It’s really sad to watch. The only thing I’d say about my dad’s health right now is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good,” Hunter added.
Joe Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis, revealed in May 2025, came shortly after he left the Oval Office. At that time, the cancer was classified as Stage 4 and had already spread to his bones. He was given a Gleason score of 9, highlighting the aggressive nature of the illness and indicating it might have been present for years.
Dr. Ezekiel J. Emanuel, a vice provost and oncologist at the University of Pennsylvania, mentioned that Biden likely had the condition for several years. “He had it while he was president,” said Dr. Emanuel, suggesting the disease may have been present at the beginning of his presidency in 2021.
Jill Biden, Joe’s wife, commented on his health in an appearance on ABC’s “The View.” She stated, “He keeps his schedule, but he’s slowed down. At 83, with stage 4 cancer and the medications he’s taking, life has become more challenging.”
