A Florida man faces serious charges after allegedly killing his family’s kittens as punishment in front of his teenage daughter. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office released a bodycam video showing deputies responding to a home in Pine Manor. They had received a report about a man trying to drown and hit a two-month-old kitten named Luna.
David Charette Jr., 48, is charged with aggravated animal cruelty. He stands accused of killing two kittens and injuring another. Witnesses claim Charette used the abuse as a form of punishment when his daughter misbehaved.

Footage from the body camera shows Charette speaking with deputies. He defended his actions, claiming, “The cat is in perfectly healthy condition. I have to give the cat a bath because it soils itself in the cage.” He added that the kitten cries during the baths.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno expressed deep concern over the allegations, particularly those involving Charette’s daughter. He described the situation as “sickening.” According to Marceno, the daughter stated that her father kills her kittens when she misbehaves.
Further investigation revealed that Charette allegedly killed two other kittens in the past year. In June, he reportedly smothered a one-month-old kitten with a bleach-soaked rag. In another incident, he is accused of killing a three-month-old kitten using a blow-dryer. Authorities found one kitten buried in the backyard following a property search.
Luna, the two-month-old kitten involved in the recent incident, was taken to a local animal hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that Luna is recovering well.
