Trump Resumes Sanctions Against Iran Amidst Stalled Efforts

President Donald Trump has announced a renewed focus on sanctions against Iran. This decision follows Iran’s demand for compensation in peace talks, prompting Trump to ask the same for the U.S. He suggests this will pressure Iran, portraying it as on the brink of financial collapse despite enduring sanctions over decades. Traditionally, sanctions are a long-term strategy rather than a quick solution to conflict.

In an elaborate operation, Trump reportedly left the recent NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, via an alternate military aircraft due to an assassination threat from Iran. This maneuver involved deceiving journalists and some White House staff into believing they were on the same plane as the president, as reported by The Washington Post. The Associated Press could not confirm the report independently, and the White House has not commented on the matter.

The Post said the operation was prompted by an Iranian assassination threat against Trump.

Meanwhile, Trump Media & Technology, the parent company of Truth Social, is returning to its original business focus. After unsuccessful attempts at diversifying into areas like online betting, finance, and nuclear energy, it is concentrating on selling White House access. This move raises ethical concerns among Democrats and watchdogs. Started by Trump after his expulsion from Twitter and Facebook, Truth Social shifted from a free-speech platform to a source for exclusive presidential updates.

Additionally, former Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall announced plans to sue the Trump administration over the revocation of his security clearance. He claims it follows his alleged disclosure of sensitive information about a Qatari-donated jet now used as Air Force One. Kendall asserts that the administration has a history of punishing critics by stripping clearances.

Attorney Mark Zaid, whose clearance was also revoked, confirmed Kendall’s legal actions. He emphasized ongoing developments in this case.
