Florida Democrat Warns of Socialist Surge

A recent primary victory by Angie Nixon, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has caused concern among Florida Democrats. Nixon’s win by 12 points has shaken the state’s Democratic establishment. Representative Jared Moskowitz shared insights on his own primary victory over a far-left opponent and addressed comments from Senator Rick Scott.

Speaking on ‘Fox & Friends,’ Moskowitz responded to Scott’s claim that Florida Democrats are afraid of their party’s progressive wing. Scott suggested that Moskowitz would take orders from far-left streamer Hasan Piker if re-elected. Moskowitz dismissed this statement, asserting that his constituents do not associate him with Piker. He emphasized that there is no connection between him and Piker.

Senator Scott made these comments during a FOX Business appearance, implying that any Democrat winning the primary would follow Piker’s directives. Scott argued that Democrats support socialist platforms out of fear. Moskowitz has been recognized as a centrist Democrat. He is known for his support of Israel and his criticism of his party’s progressive members, including Piker.

After defeating DSA-backed Oliver Larkin, Moskowitz mocked Piker on social media, addressing condolences to him. Piker replied by criticizing Moskowitz’s attention to him instead of his constituents. Despite his critique of the DSA, Moskowitz acknowledged an underlying issue that mainstream Democrats need to face. He highlighted the growing economic populist movement within the DSA and stressed the necessity for Democrats to address real economic concerns of Americans.
