Adam Copeland and Christian Cage’s Championship Journey in AEW

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage became tag team champions for the first time in 25 years after defeating FTR in an I Quit match at Double or Nothing. Since then, they have dominated the tag team division, defeating The Death Riders and The Dogs.

Copeland’s move to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) was strategically planned. He aimed for more than nostalgia. He wanted a fresh and dynamic partnership with Cage. Copeland told Fox News Digital that joining AEW allowed him to pursue goals that were unreachable elsewhere.

It’s like we’re a team again, but we’re an entirely different team and we should be because we’ve experienced so much and gone through so much throughout our careers. To just go and try and rehash the chump stain stuff, I don’t know, it almost be a disservice to us.

In the August 2025 AEW show in Cincinnati, Copeland and Cage brought excitement with their actions. Their team evolved, and they avoided falling into past patterns. Instead, they focused on creating new paths and character developments.

Their new approach included developing a unique finishing move. Previously, they lacked an official move, often relying on illegal tactics. Before Forbidden Door, Copeland proposed a new idea, the pop-up spear. They first used it successfully in London’s O2 Arena, marking an exciting start to their comeback.

Copeland and Cage are preparing for a big challenge against the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, at All In with the AEW World Tag Team Championship at stake. Copeland showed his eagerness to face them, publicly listing the Young Bucks among his desired opponents.

According to Fox News Digital, Copeland’s list not only featured opponents but also historic venues like Arena México. The Young Bucks were included from the moment a move to AEW seemed possible.

During a match against Mox, Copeland and Cage’s partnership regained momentum. The story centered around Christian’s loss of the Casino Royale opportunity due to selfish actions. Copeland reflected on accepting Christian’s nature and using it to their advantage.

This new chapter in their journey is characterized by enjoyment and creativity. Copeland mentioned how much fun they have been having and how he enjoys bouncing ideas off Cage, enhancing their in-ring chemistry.

Upcoming events include All In at Wembley Stadium in London on August 30. Copeland embraces these encounters with enthusiasm and a strategic mindset.
