Oklahoma GOP Runoff Election for Governor

The Republican runoff election in Oklahoma features a contest between two notable figures. Mike Mazzei, former state senator and budget secretary, competes against Gentner Drummond, the state’s Attorney General. This race will determine who succeeds Governor Kevin Stitt.

President Trump has weighed in, criticizing Drummond. He referred to him as a ‘fake Republican’ and commented on Drummond’s lack of stance on Trump’s impeachment. The primary held on June 16 resulted in Drummond slightly leading Mazzei by approximately 1,100 votes.

With Oklahoma known for its strong Republican base, the winner of this runoff is likely favored in the upcoming November election. Polls for the runoff will close at 8 p.m. EDT.
