Tributes are pouring in from fans and celebrities alike. Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning expressed his sorrow, noting his connection to Parton through their Tennessee ties. Manning, an alumnus of the University of Tennessee, shared a poignant Instagram post, strolling with Parton during a Vols game. He wrote, “There was only one Dolly and I feel lucky to have known her. We’ll miss you, Dolly. Tennessee won’t be the same without her!”

Just days after Knoxville, Parton dazzled audiences in Dallas at AT&T Stadium, donning a custom bedazzled Cowboys cheerleader outfit for a 2023 Thanksgiving halftime show. At 77, reviews applauded her ensemble, featuring hits like “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” alongside Queen’s “We Are The Champions.” Parton admitted to USA TODAY, “Well, at my age, if I can pull it off, it’s going to be good. And if I don’t, I can just pass it off as an old woman doing a stupid thing. I’ve always said my desire to do something is greater than my fear of it.”
Parton’s nephew, Brin Seaver, also announced her passing in an Instagram video. Her peaceful departure in Nashville followed months of battling an unknown health issue.
Dolly Parton transcended her country music roots, becoming known for her roles in acting, philanthropy, business, and humanitarian efforts. Parton was married to Carl Dean for nearly 60 years, with their relationship largely private. Dean passed away in March 2025.
