Ana Navarro, a co-host of “The View,” shared a discussion with Hunter Biden on her podcast, addressing claims made by Biden regarding former President Donald Trump. Biden described Trump as a “dictator,” expressing concerns over the state of democracy in the U.S. during Trump’s tenure.
In the podcast episode titled “Bleep! with Ana Navarro,” Biden articulated his belief that Trump had undermined democracy through various actions. He stated, “He is a dictator … in no uncertain terms,” emphasizing that Trump’s presidency had irreparably damaged the democratic system.

Navarro responded to Biden’s assertions, suggesting that although Trump may aspire to be a dictator, he has yet to achieve such status. She cited ongoing confirmation hearings for Trump’s personal attorney as Attorney General as evidence of the administration’s maneuvering to consolidate power.
During their conversation, Biden remarked on Trump’s behavior, such as confronting journalists and the prosecution of Don Lemon. Nonetheless, Navarro resisted labeling Trump a dictator, explaining her personal history of fleeing authoritarian regimes, saying, “I fled dictatorship.”
The discussion highlighted Navarro’s apprehension about Trump’s governing style, drawing parallels with her experiences of fleeing conflicts in Central America. Despite her concerns, she maintained hope in the U.S.’s judicial and electoral systems, especially in their capacity to uphold democracy.
Navarro reflected on her past criticisms of Trump, particularly her 2024 Democratic National Convention speech. She likened Trump’s tactics to those of communist dictators, identifying practices such as undermining the press and employing family in government roles.
Despite Navarro’s condemnation of certain behaviors, she acknowledged ongoing threats to the free press and democratic institutions but emphasized existing safeguards. She raised concerns about limited congressional checks on Trump’s power and expressed skepticism about potential Democratic opposition effectiveness.

Following the podcast release, the White House disregarded Hunter Biden’s comments, with spokesperson Davis Ingle responding dismissively. Ingle described Biden’s mental state unfavorably while offering well wishes to his family.
