Value of High School Football
In a message to young players, Campbell emphasizes the unique camaraderie developed among teammates who grew up together. He advises young athletes to savor their senior year, a memorable time not guaranteed to repeat.
You guys grew up together, and I know this: we’ve got a couple of coaches that have seniors. You never forget your senior year for sure. Wherever you’re at, make the most of it because you’re not guaranteed to be able to get a chance to play and be with those guys that you grew up with. Enjoy the game at that level.
Campbell recalls the unadulterated nature of high school football, describing it as free from unnecessary distractions. He reminisces about the smell of freshly cut grass and the thrill of games held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
Commitment and Team Spirit
Campbell urges young players to dedicate their efforts to supporting the seniors, recognizing that this may be the last chance for seniors to shine. He highlights the importance of teamwork and giving one’s all so that, as seniors graduate, younger members can carry forward the spirit.
If you’re a young guy, man, I’m a freshman. I’m a sophomore. You owe it to the seniors because this may be the last time – you get one more shot – They don’t. So give them everything you got and make it a special year for them because next year is your year. You’ll want those young guys to help you.
