The WNBA is set to pause play for several weeks to allow players to compete in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. Before departing for the tournament or vacations, the Indiana Fever faced off against the Connecticut Sun. Caitlin Clark and her team approached the game with confidence, following a 113-90 victory over the Chicago Sky.
On the other hand, the Connecticut Sun aimed to secure their 11th win of the season. Despite ongoing challenges, the Sun delivered a strong performance, leading 28-19 by the end of the first quarter in an away game.
Indiana Fever’s Comeback
Inspired by the initial challenge, the Fever responded dynamically in the second quarter. They outscored the Sun 39-15, transforming the game to lead 58-43 at halftime. The third quarter saw a notable play where Clark assisted Kelsey Mitchell, highlighting their teamwork.
Clark achieved 12 assists, contributing to Mitchell’s 34-point tally, placing her as the league’s top scorer. Both players achieved 34 points, marking their fourth 30-plus-point game as teammates in one season, setting a WNBA record.
Ultimately, the Fever won 111-91, enhancing their franchise record to 19 games with over 100 points in a season.
With just four regular season games remaining, Indiana Fever will resume play on September 18, facing the Toronto Tempo on the road.
