This year, they have strengthened their defense and improved the offensive line, aiming to position Joe Burrow for a successful season.
Joe Burrow has expressed his confidence in the team’s current roster, labeling it as the best he has been a part of. He believes that 2026 is the year the team can achieve a breakthrough. He frequently describes the Bengals as a Super Bowl-caliber team.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Burrow shared his approach to setting high expectations for the franchise. He said, “I’ve never understood why people are scared to say it. I guess people get scared of how the media will portray them or their team in a certain way. But you have to set expectations with yourself, your teammates, your organization. Everybody says they want to win the Super Bowl, you talk about it every day, you set that expectation every day, you go and work for it every single day. I mean, I don’t know the answer to that for everybody, but that’s what I want to do, that’s what I’m trying to do, that’s what I do this for.”
Burrow’s journey includes victories from Athens High School in The Plains, Ohio, to Ohio State, LSU, and now with Cincinnati. His outstanding 2019 season at LSU, where he won the Heisman Trophy, stands as one of college football’s best. He led the Bengals to the Super Bowl in his second year in the NFL, earned three Pro Bowls, and secured two Comeback Player of the Year awards.
As Burrow approaches his seventh NFL season and his 30th birthday, he remains eager for the organization to match his championship ambitions. The Bengals face significant pressure to deliver a championship, and Burrow is candid about the team’s high stakes.
