Trump’s Hollywood Plan with Special Ambassadors: Jon Voight’s Role

President Donald Trump shared details about progress made with Jon Voight, who has been appointed as one of his Hollywood Special Ambassadors in 2025. Trump emphasized that he had a ‘great and very interesting meeting’ with Voight, describing him as a ‘fantastic man who loves our Country’ and deeply cares about the movie and television industry.

Trump voiced concerns about the state of Hollywood, stating that the industry is shifting much of its work to Canada and other countries, resulting in dwindling jobs in the United States. ‘Hollywood is a Complete and Total Disaster,’ Trump remarked, highlighting a lack of incentives for production in the area, which in turn harms California’s economy.

As part of efforts to revitalize the industry, Trump mentioned that he, along with Voight and other industry leaders, proposed a federal tax incentive to ‘Make our Movie and Television Production Business GREAT AGAIN.’ He asserted that such incentives would generate significant revenue, benefiting both the economy and the Treasury. Trump expressed intentions to collaborate with leaders from both political parties to push this initiative through Congress.

Voight submitted a comprehensive plan to President Trump in May 2025. The proposal advocates for federal tax incentives and significant tax code changes. It also encourages new co-production treaties with foreign countries and infrastructure subsidies for various film-related businesses. One goal of the plan is to ensure that producing films domestically becomes the first choice for filmmakers.

Charles Rivkin, Motion Picture Association Chairman and CEO, welcomed the proposal. He stated that it would help boost domestic production across all 50 states and strengthen the nation’s economy. Rivkin expressed gratitude for Trump’s support and eagerness to work with Congress to establish a national incentive.

Trump appointed Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson as special ambassadors to Hollywood in efforts to reinvigorate business within the industry. He articulated plans for these ambassadors to act as his envoys, working to revive Hollywood’s status and making the United States the hub of film production once again.
