Erykah Badu and The Alchemist’s long-awaited collaborative LP titled Before The World Blows launched shortly after its name revelation. The album begins with a 7-minute track called “Echos,” where Badu channels her mystical persona. Her vocal delivery transforms from singing to chanting, evoking ancient magic. As the song progresses, the sound becomes more intense, resembling spiritual rituals.

Meanwhile, Saul Williams’ latest studio album, Leap Life, offers a quieter yet impactful experience. This album is like the soundtrack to a spiritual gathering, complemented by Williams’ hosting of “listening seances.” Tracks shift from a meditative mood to intense rhythms. In the song “13 Moons,” a thought-provoking lyric stands out: “The child asked, ‘But why so much blood’ / The elder answered, ‘This is our cycle.'” Williams views his album as a catalyst for personal transformation, moving beyond the typical notions of power.
