The Department of Homeland Security responded to comments by comedian Rosie O’Donnell regarding ICE facilities. In a TikTok video titled, ‘Friday Ramble,’ O’Donnell criticized the Trump administration, comparing ICE operations to historical fascism and internment camps.
O’Donnell’s remarks drew backlash from public figures and the DHS, which dismissed her claims as false. A DHS spokesman highlighted the impact of such remarks, noting significant increases in threats and attacks on ICE officers. The spokesman emphasized that ICE facilities maintain higher standards than most U.S. prisons.
The DHS clarified additional services provided to detainees, including meals, clean water, and access to communication. Certified dieticians ensure meal quality, while detainees receive comprehensive medical care. Prenatal services are available for the rare cases of pregnant detainees.
O’Donnell has been vocal against the Trump administration and ICE practices. She previously compared ICE enforcement to Nazi Germany and speculated on the censorship of dissenting voices.
The DHS offers illegal aliens financial incentives to self-deport, aiming to encourage legal entry and adherence to U.S. laws. Under Trump and Secretary Mullin, ICE focuses on detaining illegal aliens involved in criminal activities. The agency’s efforts align with the objective of maintaining public safety.
