As November’s midterm elections approach, President Trump controls a hefty $400 million war chest. This information comes from Federal Election Commission filings. Fellow Republicans are curious about his plans for this substantial amount.
Recently, Securing American Greatness, linked to Mr. Trump’s super PAC MAGA Inc., launched its initial nationwide ad. The ad focuses on Mr. Trump rather than local congressional candidates. Although financial support has yet to reach candidates, the president insists it will soon.
“I’ve raised a lot,” Mr. Trump stated on Aug. 21 before flying to South Carolina. “I’ll be spending a lot of that money for candidates that I think are good, Republican candidates.”
Mr. Trump and his team emphasize recent political patterns: when he rallies his base to vote, they respond. At a rally for Sen. Darline Graham in South Carolina, Trump stressed, “Pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot. Come and vote.”
To date, MAGA Inc.’s notable financial contribution is an $827,000 support for Graham’s campaign. Prior to this, MAGA Inc. had only spent about $18,000 on 2026 midterm races and $1.7 million the previous year. By the end of the second quarter, funds reached $401 million.
The focus on Trump will extend next week in Dallas. The GOP will hold a presidential-style midterm convention with numerous speeches and a balloon drop. This event aims to highlight some of the party’s emerging leaders. However, CBS News reports some Republican candidates in competitive races will not attend.
Florida Rep. Maria Salazar explained, “I have to be campaigning. No one votes for me in Washington or in Dallas. I have to be in Miami.”
Vice President JD Vance recently mentioned he is not concerned if Republicans choose to campaign in their districts. “Most importantly, you’ve got to go out there and meet voters and message to voters,” Vance said.
