MAGA, Inc., the super PAC associated with President Donald Trump, has allocated $10 million for advertising to support Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his Senate campaign. This financial move was revealed through a recent Federal Election Commission filing.
Paxton faces Democrat state Rep. James Talarico in a closely contested race, with polls consistently showing the candidates competing closely. The $10 million fund will be spent on digital and television advertisements across Texas.
Earlier in the year, Trump’s endorsement aided Paxton in defeating incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the Republican primary. Paxton expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “While James Talarico has a record of raising taxes on working families, my Protecting the Texas Promise Agenda cuts costs and makes life more affordable. Thank you, President @realDonaldTrump, for your support. Together we will win for Texas and America,” on social media platform X.
“Billionaire-backed dark money groups are lying about James Talarico because they’re scared of the people-powered movement we’re building to fix this broken, corrupt political system,” Talarico’s campaign commented on the super PAC’s involvement.
Talarico criticized the influence of billionaires, highlighting their participation in a Republican midterm convention and their support for policies that, according to him, increase living costs.
MAGA Inc. spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer labeled Talarico “High Tax Talarico,” accusing him of imposing harmful policies on Texans. Pfeiffer stated that MAGA Inc. aims to inform Texans about these policies and promote Ken Paxton’s election to the U.S. Senate.
Talarico’s campaign has accumulated $72 million, predominantly from small donors, whereas Paxton’s campaign has raised $16.8 million. Two ads targeting Talarico criticize his tax policies and his stance on rural hospitals. In contrast, Paxton’s platform includes enhancing the child tax credit, providing tax deductions for medical expenses, and offering a $50,000 deduction for first-time homebuyers.
MAGA, Inc. possesses approximately $400 million for campaign activities, which Trump refers to as “my money.” He expressed commitment to utilizing these funds to support his political endeavors.
